Big names got replaced in IPL 2020.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League gets underway from September 19 in Abu Dhabi,where the defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on the formers formers defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

As only 3 days are left for the 13th edition of ipl which will be held in UAE and will be organise by BCCI,with some strict protocol and maintaining the bio secure bubble in order to avoid any casualties and to prevent the spread of Corona virus among any players and staff members which may cost a high amount of loss to the board.

Apart from this many players even some legendary players pulled out their name out of the game owing to personal or health issue.

Here are the players and their respective replacement:


1. Chris Woakes - Delhi Capitals (DC)

The English All-rounder,who was bought by Delhi Capitals with a good amount of Rs. 1.5 Crore,in the 2020 IPL auction,the players pulled out his name back in March,saying he "needed to recharge his batteries" and focus on his England career.The decison was taken before the coronavirus pandemic affected the cricket path.

The franchise has bought in the South African fast bowler named Anrich Nortje to replace England's Chris Woakes.Norteja has played six Tests,seven ODIs and 3 T20Is for South Africa since now.He made his debut match in Johannesburg last year.

This will be Nortje’s maiden IPL stint, after he missed out in 2019 â€“ for Kolkata Knight Riders, who got him at his base cost of INR 20 lakh – because of a shoulder injury.


2. Kane Richardson - Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

The franchise RCB bought the Australian pacer in last December at the IPL auction with a amount of Rs. 4 Crore,the player opted out his name from the tournament in order to be with his wife for the birth of his first child.

Adam Zampa has been roped in the franchise as his replacement.

3. Jason Roy - Delhi Capitals (DC)

The player joined the franchise in the base price of Rs. 1.5 Crore,pulled out of the tournament for some personal reasons.

The Right-handed ayer joined the Delhi franchise in 2018,he has played many awesome knocks.The player also didn't enter in IPL 2019 aution in order to prepare for the World Cup 2019.

Delhi Capitals have roped in Daniel Sams as the replacement.The left-arm lacer was a star player in Big Bash League 2019/20. 

4. Lasith Malinga - Mumbai Indians (MI)

The most successful bowler in the IPL history since the begining has pulled his name out of the tournament this year.The 37 year old bowler pulled out his name due to some personal issue,although its not the first time that the player will be missed from an entire season of IPL,but according to some sources it is believed that it might have been his last IPL year.


The Mumbai Indians franchise has named the Australian pacer  James Pattinson who is yet to play a match in IPL,as his replacement.

5. Harry Gurney - Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

The medium pacer of the franchise Kolkata Knight Riders has also been pied out of the IPL 2020 due to shoulder injury.The player was bought in by the franchise in a base price of Rs. 75 lakhs in the IPL 2019 auction by the kkr franchise.


In a replacement of Harry Gurney the franchise has roped in the USA player named Ali Khan. 29 year old Khan will be the first player from USA to be feature in IPL,the player is also a part of Trinbago Knight Riders in Caribbean Knight Riders(CPL) which is bought by the co-owner of KKR "Mr. Shah Rukh Khan".

He is known for his 140 kph speed and perfect Yorkers during the slog overs.
